An artist always prepares the canvas before creating a work of art. Let’s face it; you girls are all artists, perhaps even more so than your GG counterparts. The makeup that goes on your face – the fun stuff/toys – won’t do what you really want it to do without preparing the skin first. A few minutes and few cents per day can help you reach your most accomplished look.
The basic requirements of a really good skin care regimen include twice daily cleansing, removal of dead surface cells, refining the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles/pores, providing essential moisture and protecting the skin from the environment. One more time:
Does this sound like a lot of work to you? Well, yes – it is! How do you think GGs come to have such nice complexions? They grow up knowing that they are “supposed” to look pretty and they work hard to reach that goal. Makeup alone won’t do it and GGs know that (at least, the over 30’s do!). Yes, even though GGs have the natural hormones and the resulting smoother, softer canvas, they still know that they have to maintain the surface properly for cosmetics to work their magic. While this sounds like a lot of effort, it can be done in no more than 5-10 minutes per day.
It is very important that you find a line of products that delivers the advanced anti-aging benefits you want, in order to combat signs of aging and sun damage. Look for products that minimize fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, increase firmness and offer protection from the elements. Our eyes have very thin skin surrounding them and there are creams available that target that special issue.
To further enhance a smoother, more polished complexion, add a micro-dermabrasion treatment one-three times per week. There are also customized products for specific trouble spots such as puffy eyes, rough lips, oil and blemish control, and extra hydration.
Most companies design their products to work together in a team effort that offers greater benefits. No matter which branded products you use (whether it’s Mary Kay or any other good skin care program), it’s important that you use products from the same line, and rigidly adhere to the regimen. I would offer only one caution when considering which line to use: be wary of the extremes. That is, low cost/mass merchandise products as well ultra high dollar designer products. Research has shown that just as for cars, electronics or anything else we buy today, you will most likely get what you pay for. On the other hand, there is no need to pay more than you need to when a more moderate priced product line will do just as well.
Male or female, TG or GG, we all want to look as good and as young as we can. It has been said that, “At age 20 we have the skin we were born with; at age 40 we have the skin we create; at age 60 we have the skin we deserve.” I would be happy to assist each and every one of you, either individually or in a group situation, to achieve your own personal beautiful skin goals. This includes simply answering your questions, demonstrations, or providing products. If you do have specific questions or product needs please let me know by email or phone prior to each monthly meeting so that I can be prepared.
Best wishes for your work of art in progress!
