I was struggling with the term "Gender Dysphoria" because it seems to connote a rare disease. I may have a cold now and then, but I certainly do not have a disease that has lasted since I was six years old. I first came to the conclusion that this was a disease created by the TS community in order that insurance companies would now have an identified disease and thus agree to pay for transition surgery (which I certainly do not object to at all). I still was not satisfied that that I knew what the definition of "Gender Dysphoria" was because it is not only used to describe a condition present in transsexuals, but also to describe the reason crossdressers dress.

I was still not satisfied with the media's definition of Gender Dysphoria, until I finally deduced the correct definition of "Gender Dysphoria":

Gender Dysphoria is a disease that creates an illusion. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the earth's population has this disease. The illusion created by Gender Dysphoria leads those infected with the disease to believe there are only two genders and they are very distinct and are polar opposites -- male and female. This illusion blocks out any concept that would suggest that there is a gender spectrum (or continuum, if you will) and thus the concept of identifying with the opposite gender is totally foreign. Changing gender is outlandish to those with Gender Dysphoria and may even be considered a sin by those infected.

Luckily, as with most diseases, it can be cured over time with education and compassion for those infected with the disease. To join a Gender Dysphoria Help Group, visit your local college and become involved with professors of Human Sexuality Classes, write your local congressman/woman and urge them to vote for the GBLT Hate Crimes Act, join your local Tri-ESS chapter, but first and foremost, conduct yourself as a lady at all times.
