It’s the middle of October already! It only seems like a moment ago that I wore my green monster mask and pink hair to the October 2005 meeting…
I am sitting here, trying to stir up the creative juices to write an interesting and/or informative item for the Pink Slip, but it’s just not happening. Maybe it’s the dreary, rainy day we’re having. Perhaps it’s the call I just got from Toyota’s service department with the latest repair estimate on my car (I really didn’t need that $178 anyway; probably would have just wasted it on pantyhose or wigs, or something like that).
My thoughts keep returning to my friends in Kappa Beta, so that’s what I’ll write about: friendship. I guess friendship means different things to each of us, but that’s OK because we are a collection of individuals. At the same time though, we are individuals that have a few things in common and we have some common goals. I like to think about getting together with you at our meetings and listening to what you have to say. I am constantly amazed at the wisdom and the strength that you girls bring to the meetings, and I learn something new each and every time we get together.
Sometimes what I learn has to do with the “technical” aspect of being en femme, such as makeup tips, wig tips, or perhaps carriage and how to act like a lady. Sometime what I learn has to do with understanding what different people want or expect from being a member of Kappa. Sometime I just learn over and over again what great friends you are.
Friends provide support for each other, and they also provide good company and good times. I just want to thank you all for giving me some of the best of both over the past four years!
