Coat of Many Colors
I am sure you have all heard this song by Dolly Parton, but have you ever wondered how it pertains to all of us in life.
We all wear a coat of many colors, whether it is Heterosexual, Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, crossdresser. How many of us have been laughed at, scorned and made fun of because of the coat we wear?
The coat we wear does not change the person who dons their coat in life but we should not feel resentment towards those that laugh or otherwise deride our lifestyle. To paraphrase Jesus at the crucifixion, "they do not know what they do."
We cannot expect everyone to accept us for what we are in life so do not feel anger or resentment towards them but rather pray for them to find understanding and tolerance towards those of us who wear a coat of many colors. Our coat of many colors was made with love just like in the song and we should wear it proudly knowing that the love of God is woven into every stitch.
